Uttaradimath Shri Raghavendra mutt & Udupi eight mutts. Madhwacharya established 8 Mathas in Udupi to look after the Krishna mandir. Madhwacharya got a Krishna Moorthy (IDOL) in a ship near the shore in Udupi, which he established a temple in Udupi and established the Krishna Moothy. He passed on various idols with him to evry of his students (Shishya varga) and told them to do the pooja of those idols & also inturn do thepooja of shri krishna idol established in the temple in a series of rotation on every two year basis (PARYAYA SAMARAMBA).
